Stop high-stakes testing from destroying public education.

An essay question whose only correct answer is: ‘we all die’

To measure progress so I can assess my students’ growth throughout the year, we take acuity tests. We’ve taken the same acuity tests ever year…despite wrong answers, multiple correct answers on multiple choice questions, and my favorite an essay question whose only correct answer is ‘we all die’ (question is about what happens if the energy source for grass runs out’). The test is the same despite changing science standards!!! It’s a waste of time and ruins two days of my year. The year we transitioned to spring tests, I counted 27 days of total testing and test prep. (Think gridded response)

Testing like this is a sham. And tests being mandated should be an punishable offense.

If a test is forced on my kids and schools forced to pay for it, then fix the tests and quit stealing our money!
